When comparing internship options, a student should be able to ask a simple question: what will I actually do?

A certificate records participation. The work completed during the experience is what helps a learner explain their skills. For diploma and engineering students across Jharkhand, asking about the work early can make the choice clearer.

Ask for the practical scope

Find out which tools, equipment or software you will use. Ask whether the experience includes individual tasks, a group project or observation. Each format can be useful, but they teach different things.

In a software project, the work might involve a small application, version control and testing. In an automation exercise, it might involve understanding inputs, outputs, control logic and safe operating procedures. The scope should fit your current level.

Understand the feedback process

Ask who will review your work and how often. Feedback is most useful when it points to a specific improvement: a design assumption to reconsider, a test case to add or an explanation to make clearer.

Keep a learning record

Maintain a short record of the problem, your contribution, the tools used and what changed after feedback. Respect confidentiality. Do not publish an organization’s code, documents or operational information without permission.

Prepare to explain the result

At the end, aim to explain one piece of work clearly. What was the requirement? What did you try? What failed? What would you improve with more time?

Before enrolling, confirm the current domain, duration, supervision, attendance expectations and deliverables. An internship is a learning opportunity; it should not be treated as a guaranteed employment offer.

A practical review checklist

Before accepting an arrangement, write down the host, supervisor, learning objective, weekly tasks, project output and review method. For example, a proposed design assignment should identify the drawing or model to be produced, the constraints to consider and who will review it. This is an illustrative checklist, not an advertised vacancy or placement.
